Now that you've studied medicine in Tennessee, you may want to stay.

You've invested so much into your budding medical career.  Worked hard.  Made genuine sacrifices, along with countless important decisions.  Now you have another big choice coming up soon - where will you practice after your residency?

The idea behind our Stipend Program is refreshingly simple and straightforward:  we offer $25,000 per year to qualifying residents who are selected for the program and who agree to practice full-time Primary Care medicine in one of our target communities.  Residents can receive this stipend each year for a maximum of three years.  If your residency program extends to four years, we will extend the stipend an extra year for a total of $100,000.  Remember, this is in addition to the income you'll be earning as a physician.

In order to be considered by our selection committee for the initial round of stipends, we'll need to have all of your application materials by March 30.  Stipend applications will be reviewed quarterly and are due by March 30, June 30, September 30 and December 30.   A maximum of 20 stipends are awarded each year.  The selection process moves quickly - all recipients will be notified by June 1.  To apply, you must be enrolled in a primary care residency program at one of the following medical schools:
 

• East Tennessee State University
• Meharry Medical College
• The University of Tennessee
• Vanderbilt University
